Pre-Lenten Retreat, Date Change for “Setting Boundaries” Presentation, February Thank You’s, and all the week’s events
PRE-LENTEN RETREAT, PRAYER SERVICE, AND POTLUCK: This coming Sunday, March 2, we are taking some time to prepare for Lent by coming together for a half-day retreat. This will begin at 1pm, and will be held at the home of Lynn Chacko and Jade Allen (a.k.a. Black Acres Microfarm). We will end our time together with our usual Open Table monthly prayer service and potluck, starting around 4pm. All are welcome to join us for the retreat, the prayer service/potluck, or both. Contact email@example.com for more information, or for directions to Lynn and Jade’s home.
DATE CHANGE: SPECIAL PRESENTATION ON “SETTING BOUNDARIES” ON MARCH 13th by MARSHALL KNUDSON: As we shared last week, the director of the Alachua County Crisis Center, Marshall Knudson, will be coming to share a special presentation on “Setting Boundaries.” However, the date has been moved up; this presentation will now be held Thursday, March 13 from 7-8:30pm at the Green House. All of our volunteers are strongly encouraged to attend as well as any other interested members of the community. More details to follow in future updates. Check out the facebook event page for this presentation here.

FEBRUARY THANK YOU’S: We are grateful to Porters Community Farm, Black Acres Microfarm, and the farmers at the 441 Farmers’ Market for all the produce they have donated to GCW this month, and to Henderson and Daughter Plants and Produce for selling us citrus at a deep discount. Thank you also to Strongtree Organic Coffee Roasters for donating coffee for our morning coffee shops, and to Citizen’s Co-op for the big discount they give us on bulk organic flour for our bread. Finally, a huge thank you to Lauren Barlis and Angela Lynch for volunteering to be bread sponsors for us!
QUOTATION OF THE WEEK:
You have heard that it was said,
You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.
But I say to you, love your enemies
and pray for those who persecute you,
that you may be children of your heavenly Father,
for he makes his sun rise on the bad and the good,
and causes rain to fall on the just and the unjust.
For if you love those who love you, what recompense will you have?
Do not the tax collectors do the same?
And if you greet your brothers only,
what is unusual about that?
Do not the pagans do the same?
So be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect.
